Research Associate
In my current research project “Cosmovision and World Arts: On Transversal Surrealism” I analyze the transnational relations of the Surrealist Movement between Europe, Africa the Caribbean and Latin America. My aim is to show the multilateral dynamics that constituted the global network of surrealism in the first half of the 20th century. To explore the transcultural encounters and interactions within this network I examine surrealist periodicals such as Minotaure, Tropiques and VVV as well as case studies of individual authors and artists, e.g. André Breton, Aimé Césaire, Leonora Carrington, Malcolm de Chazal, Wifredo Lam, Michel Leiris and César Moro. To pursue my research in Paris I have received a research fellowship for postdocs from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation until February 2019, at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales.
